The Walk4Trees project started in 2021 with a goal to raise awareness on two issues: climate crisis and employee health. The solution: For every million steps taken by PETRONAS employees, a tree will be planted.

Together with implementation partner Global Environment Centre, the Walk4Trees initiative planted 74,652 trees across 11 states, helping to restore natural habitats while also improving the livelihoods of local communities, including the Orang Asli.

Celebrating Regional Leadership in Biodiversity
For this effort, Yayasan PETRONAS, alongside implementation partner GEC, earned an ASEAN Green Initiative (AGI) recognition for Large-Scale Tree Planting Initiatives by ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity in 2023.
